Using municipal websites to promote transparency

August 13, 2007 · Leave a Comment

Michael Skudera, president of the Tinton Falls Borough Council in New Jersey, has a great article in Sunday’s Asbury Park Press arguing that Public records should be part of all municipal Web sites.

Skudera writes:

After studying more than 170 municipal Web sites in New Jersey, I came to the unfortunate conclusion that most towns post very little public information on their Web sites. It is rare to see a town Web site in New Jersey that posts even the most basic information online such as the budget, public notices and meeting minutes.

Mike has also presented a series of action items that any muncipal government can take to move in the right direction.

Kudos, Mr. Skudera.
