Wesley Snipes: Sunshine Troublemaker of the Week

April 16, 2008 · Leave a Comment

How often do we get to confer the coveted and increasingly prestigious Sunshine Troublemaker of the Week award on a celebrity? Never.

So of course we’re not going to pass up this opportunity to give the STOTW to Wesley Snipes. Mr. Snipes is now, officially, the 21st STOTW.

Sunshine Troublemaker of the Week

Why?

The reason is that federal prosecutors are recommending that Mr. Snipes be incarcerated for three years for criminal tax evasion. Three years is the statutory maximum for the crime of which Mr. Snipes has been convicted.

Why do the federal prosecutors recommend this maximum penalty? It is because Mr. Snipes “brazenly waged a campaign” against the Internal Revenue Service by, among other things, making Freedom of Information Act requests for IRS records–requests that the federal prosecutors deem to have been frivolous.

The full story is here, on the OK! First for Celebrity News! website.
