I was…is flabbergasted the right word?…to see that Amy Gahran, one of my new media heroines, wrote a story about WikiFoia for Poynter Online.
Amy’s indispensable blog is subtitled “People talk! Embrace the public conversation and thrive.”
We’ve already gotten a great and important suggestion for improving WikiFoia because of Amy’s article–namely, we need to add a legal disclaimer so that citizens trying out the open records process won’t take information on it as legal advice.
For now we’re going to utilize the Standard General Disclaimer that WikiPedia, the grandfather of Wikis, uses.
Should we be doing something else? Any suggestions? (I promise if you give me a suggestion, I won’t think you are practicing law without a license.)
Update: Thanks for the suggestions. Here’s what we’re going with as a legal disclaimer for now.
