In Maryland, a circuit court judge has denied an open records request filed under Maryland’s law. The request was filed by a member of the city council in Fruitland, Maryland. What she asked for was access to a report about a 2006 city police investigation.
The judge said that if the report was released, it would open old wounds and “cause substantial injury to the public interest.”
He also said:
“Disclosure will not produce Justice Brandeis’ sunshine but rather harmful gamma rays with the result that any open wounds will never heal but only fester.”
