San Bernardino County checks in with unions before releasing information

San Bernardino County has evidently adopted the practice of checking with two local employee unions prior to releasing information about county employees and salaries to the local media, according to the Sun & Daily Bulletin.

That newspaper requested information on August 5 about any current county employees who also draw from the county’s retirement account–a practice unpopular with taxpayers called “double-dipping”. On September 22, the paper still didn’t have the documents, but it did have an e-mail from the employee who is supposed to give it the information that he needed to give two local unions a head’s up before providing the documents.
