Intermission for a travelogue

I’m in Issaquah, Washington. I got to spend the day yesterday with a roomful of very smart people who are trying to save the world, always a pleasure, and in the evening met a few bloggers (also very smart people who are trying to save the world) at the Issaquah Brewhouse.

Shortly I will be driving over the Cascades to visit a relative in Spokane.

What could be better than driving through the Cascades on October 8?

For one thing, it isn’t Valparaiso.

  1. That’s one of the few things the left coast has going for it Leslie… It’s beautiful out here, even if the politics leaves you feeling “blue”.

Isn’t it ironic that once the expression was “better dead than red”, referring of course to communism? Now, we’re trying to turn the state “red”, referring to a switch from Democratic to Republican. Or, to my way of thinking from socialist/Marxist to Classical Liberalism or Modern Conservatism.

(Who picked these colors anyway — oh yeah, the major news media did that.)
