Request for records condemned as politically motivated and unduly burdensome

Where are my smelling salts?

Someone should take it upon himself or herself to compile an annual list of public records requests that are politically motivated and unduly burdensome. From my little perch here in the tiny libertarian conspiracy, it would appear that each of the two big parties has approximately equal numbers of political oppo researchers who use open records requests as one tool in their arsenal.

I would like it if the reporters who write these stories would include a concluding paragraph that says, “The records request we covered in this story is the 2,138th records request of 2009 said by those who were asked for the record to be politically motivated, unduly burdensome or both.”

  1. Your link isn’t working.

  2. I’d read the link “Where are my smelling salts?” but it’s presently broken.
