Florida STOTW Joel Chandler files more lawsuits and starts a website

We gave our STOTW award to Joel Chandler back in November 2008.

Chandler has become wildly controversial. He has started his own website, I Am Troublemaker (and he’s not kidding), where he brings up what his critics are saying, explains his project and links to ongoing press coverage.

See The “most hated man in Florida”? for some early January links.

This has not deterred Mr. Chandler — would it deter any of our STOTWs? — and he has now filed lawsuits against the Clay, Flagler, Marion, Orange, St. Johns, St. Lucie and Lee school districts.

  1. Hello Leslie;

    Just an update, now Joel is threatening to sue me! I posted a comment, but as happened here, I’m sure it won’t remain for long. In the comment, I called you a “hypocrite,” but that is factually correct. You see, neither you nor Joel really wants the public to see the entire truth, and you skew the truth to boost your overinflated opinion of yourself.

    I still don’t see the information about Joel’s arrest and subsequent guilty plea for solicitation of prostitution, as posted on the Hillsborough County Clerk of Courts website. Here’s the link: http://publicrecord.hillsclerk.com/oridev/criminal_pack.doc?pcSearchMode=NS&pnPidm=77223&pcCaseId=90-CM-023707&pnCnt=1&pcCourtType=% in case you want to see for yourself.

    So are you going to post this PUBLIC INFORMATION that you’re such an advocate of?

  2. Leslie,

    Thank you for your commitment to public records access – even those that don’t make me look nice. Public records are just that – public. We are all better off when the records of the government are open for all to see. I’m perfectly willing to take the good with the bad.

    Thanks for your important work.

    Best regards,

    Joel Chandler
