Joe the Plumber files a lawsuit

In Ohio, Samuel J. Wurzelbacher, aka “Joe the Plumber”, has filed a lawsuit against three former state officials.

He says they violated his privacy shortly after he came to the nation’s attention in the heat of last year’s presidential campaign.

Helen Jones-Kelley, who resigned in December as director of the Ohio Department of Job and Family Services, possibly because of this unfortunate episode in her former career, and two of her then-assistants, are named in the suit.

At issue, as I understand it, is not whether the records that were pulled were public or private, but the allegation that the records were pulled without anyone requesting them, with some reason to believe that the records were pulled to embarrrass Mr. Wurzelbacher.
