Dan Kramer: Sunshine Troublemaker of the Week

Dan Kramer of Sussex County, Delaware is this week’s Sunshine Troublemaker of the Week, and a very deserving recipient.

Sunshine Troublemaker of the Week

Kramer hasn’t missed a Sussex County Council meeting for thirteen years and is also handy with FOIA complaints, which he has filed against Sussex County, the local Woodbridge School District and Milton.

In a charming portrait in the Cape Gazette, Mr. Kramer says, “People call me a watchdog, but I’m really a junkyard dog who will bite you in the gasket.” He also says, “They can call me anything they want as long, as they don’t call me late for supper.”

Mr. Kramer began his career as a watchdog when he noticed some things were amiss–items were acted on that weren’t on the meeting’s agenda, agendas were posted with the right amount of notice, and descriptions of what happened at meetings didn’t coincide what his observations of the meetings.

Mr. Kramer will probably never learn of our admiration because he doesn’t own a computer, but we nevertheless send him our very best wishes and thanks for the inspiration.
