Where could I find those figures? Hello? Hello??

Mark McCormick is a columnist for the Wichita Eagle who often writes compelling columns about access to public information, as in Who gets to pick what public needs to know?

McCormick also wrote a column about increasing test scores in Wichita’s school district. That prompted Kansas blogger Bob Weeks, who participated in our Sunshine Blogger Project earlier this year, to ask the school district for its test score data.

Or to be more precise, Weeks asked the school district where, on its website or elsewhere, he could find the information McCormick must have had access to in order to write about increasing test scores.

Weeks asked for the information on June 18. Still no answer.

Questions like this should be a lay-up…disturbing that the district can’t produce the answers expeditiously.
